  48. 3.                   SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS AND OPTIONS

  51. DISPLAY :  EGA or VGA ( 16 color adapter )

  59. 4.                           OPERATION
  60.  
  61. To start the program simply type  MC  <Enter>
  62.  
  63. GENERAL :  The program will detect your display card.  It will also sense
  64. if there is a mouse attached by checking for the mouse driver.  Please
  65. install the mouse driver before running MC .  All of the MAGIC CRAYON files
  66. must be present at your current disk drive and directory.
  67.  
  68. The object of Magic Crayon is to color in all the Yellow sections of the
  69. picture.  You may pick any color you wish from the palette.

  72. : NEW PICTURE :  The "happy face" icon in the upper left corner selects a
  73. :-------------:  new picture from the current library.
  74.  
  75. :-------------:
  76. : VIEW COLOR  :  The "eye" icon in the upper right corner colors in the
  77. :-------------:  current picture on the screen.  If you get stuck or bored
  78.                  with a picture, select this option to finish it off.

  81. :    HELP     :  The "Questionmark" icon shows brief on-line help that
  82. :-------------:  explains the game objective.

  85. :    INFO     :  "Crayon" icon, shows information about the program.

  90. :      1.     :  "Fish" icon selects Miscellaneous pictures for coloring

  94. :     2.      :  "ABC" icon selects pictures from the color alphabet and
  95. :-------------:  number collection.  Teaches simple words and numbers.

  98. :     3.      :  "Camel" icon selects pictures from the color shading
  99. :-------------:  picture collection.  The object of this game is to color
  100.                  in the Yellow sections of the picture which make-up the
  101.                  the hidden shape.  You may use any color you wish.

  104. :     4.      :  "Owl" icon selects funny cartoon characters from the
  105. :-------------:  color critter collection.

  108. :    MENU     :  The menu icon, lets you set personal preferences or
  109. :-------------:  quit the program

  115. 1. SET LEVEL  Easy level displays colored squares, which serve as
  116.               coloring guides for young children or beginners.
  117.  
  118. 2. SOUND      Turns on or off the sound effects or music. If you have
  119.               Adlib or Soundblaster compatible, select option 3
  120.  
  121. 3. PRINT PICTURE  Prints the black outline of the picture on a Dot-
  122.            Matrix or Laserjet printer.  This is great for hand coloring
  123.  
  124. 4. SHOW MAGIC DEMO  Self-running demonstration of MAGIC CRAYON
  125.  
  126. 5.  QUIT          Lets you to end the game.

  130. TO START :  At the DOS prompt type MC followed by ENTER.  Then the theme
  131. song will start playing. You can either wait until the whole song is played
  132. or you can  press a keyboard key or press a mouse button to stop the music
  133. before it finishes.  Now you are ready to start.

  135. TO PLAY : For a quick start just click on the "happy face" icon, point
  136.           and click on a color from the palette and start coloring in.
  137. When all of the Yellow sections are colored in, the music will play.

  140.                       MAGIC CRAYON GAME PHILOSOPHY
  141.  
  142. Magic crayon combines the challenges and rewards of games with teaching
  143. basic visual principles.  This approach works well because it is fun.
  144.  
  145. Magic Crayon will help children explore and play with colors.  It brings
  146. out the artistic qualities in them.  There are 100 pictures to color again
  147. and again.
  148.  
  149. The color shading collection teaches visual perception and visual
  150. discrimination.  These skills are very important in geometry and geography.
  151.  
  152. Magic Crayon is also a great introduction to using the mouse as a pointing
  153. device.
